Imbolc has been celebrated since Neolithic times in Gaelic and other cultures as the beginning of spring. I've always loved Imbolc, coming as it does midway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. On Imbolc early people celebrated the first plowing by pulling a statue of a goddess or Saint Brigid in a little wooden cart around the perimeter of the spring field. Imbolc is our wedding anniversary: 43 years this year.
