My cat Jesse is completely in charge of when I can draw him. He can tell I'm drawing him even when he's sound asleep. If I am behind him while he's sleeping and I very stealthily begin to sketch, he waits until I'm committed to the drawing, and then he slowly rotates to a completely different position. The other day, though, I hung in there and sketched gesture drawings until finally he must have decided it was okay for me to draw him. When I was finished, he stretched, got up, and went outside.
That's cats for you.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely charming drawings!
Beautiful cat and very kind of him to let you do this too! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was a rare occasion. He generally prefers to bite the pen as I try to draw!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Sounds just like my cat Peer. He can lay still for hours but the moment you want to draw him he likes nothing better than sabotaging the process. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis is very quaint and and lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Gwen, thanks for sharing your love for cats and your entries in your diary. It is very inspiring for me. I liked your cat in the page very much.
ReplyDeleteI just love this! I have a lovely cat, Harriet. Must try this! I have so many unfinished journals, *sigh* So much inspiration here, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I do not draw, but I do often think of things like this about my critter family. Will have to start journaling about them. Before I became disabled, I worked at zoos as an animal behaviorist, enrichment specialist and trainer. One of the things that was part of my jobs was to write about how training sessions went, how an animal reacted to enrichment items, their behavior in different situations, etc. As I am disabled and this, most important part of my life (before having my son)is over and I have been in a kind of mourning of this loss for years, I love looking back at the "journals" I either made a copy of for myself, or was able to take with me. I should really do this with my critter family, for unfortunately, except my birds, they all have a much shorter life span than I and it would be wonderful to relive those moments in this way. Thank you for inspiring me.
ReplyDeletePS. one of my cats must chew on the writing implement like Jesse, the others prefer to sit directly on the paper so that I can not write and must give then pets and kisses instead! When my son does his homework at the kitchen island, I have to lock the kitties up as they will not allow him to do his work!
